I operate on brains, I build software, and I teach other doctors to bridge the two.
I'm a functional/stereotactic neurosurgeon at Maastricht UMC+, treating patients with Deep Brain Stimulation while researching invasive brain-computer interfaces and agentic AI. For 20+ years I've worked across the boundary between neurosurgery and technology, as a clinician, a software builder, and an educator for other physicians navigating the same shift.

BCI is a genuinely new domain heading toward first-in-man trials, and I've stayed skeptical of the hype since before it was fashionable. Agentic AI in Medicine
Generative and agentic AI are reshaping clinical decisions and physician training. I focus on where these systems genuinely help in neurosurgical practice, and where the hype outruns the evidence.

As co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, I help run the world's first AI-supported, EACCME-accredited continuing medical education platform for healthcare providers, with courses in Digital Neurosurgery, Digital Neurology, and Digital Psychiatry.
